Someone other than the person I've been trading LJ comments with just sent me a rough logo. I've uploaded it to the photo section. Both this person (Tapestry) and Starweaver have requested a patch in exchange for the artwork; as I doubt there will be much difference in the designs, I'm inclined to give each of them one.

Re: Proposed Logo
Mon, May 3, 2004 - 7:07 PMIt's fabulous!
It'll be colored, yes? -

Re: Proposed Logo
Mon, May 3, 2004 - 11:00 PM*nodnod* I've been thinking gold thread on a black background, to make it as much like a real GS pin as possible.... -

Re: Proposed Logo
Tue, May 4, 2004 - 12:10 AMNot that it matters, but I think it's kinda sucky. It's not funny at all and doesn't seem to mean anything. Oh well. -

Re: Proposed Logo
Tue, May 4, 2004 - 12:52 PMWhat do you mean by "doesn't seem to mean anything"? It's based directly on the Brownie trefoil (which I've linked to at least once before in the patch discussions).

Re: Proposed Logo
Tue, May 4, 2004 - 9:51 AMI like the gold thread idea, but the black seems kind of...plain. Unless we had flames in the background. That might be kind of cool.
Plus, all my old GS badges were green. How about a green background? -

Re: Proposed Logo
Tue, May 4, 2004 - 1:04 PMAs soon as I posted that last night, I started thinking "Maybe green would be better...." A black patch would stand out better against the sashes, IMO.
Flames *would* be nifty, but that starts jacking up the cost of the patches, which are priced according to how much of the patch area is covered with embroidery. Metallic thread (if we were to go with that for the logo, rather than just "gold"-colored thread) also ups the cost.
The patch as proposed, with a single color non-metallic thread on a solid background would be $1.22 ea. (We can deal with shit like minimum orders later.) Changing that to metallic thread raises the price to $1.46 ea. Flames in the background with non-metallic thread is $1.32; with metallic thread is $1.58. Add another $.10 per patch if we want an iron-on backing on them.

Re: Proposed Logo
Tue, May 4, 2004 - 1:14 PMMy boyfriend just made the comment that the Man doesn't really stand out from the rest of the design as it currently is. ("Right now, it looks like a necktie over the top of a rounded rectangle" was his comment.... *raspberry*) My immediate workaround for that was to make the Man a separate color (red, maybe?) from the rest of the trefoil. Any other thoughts? -

Re: Proposed Logo
Fri, June 11, 2004 - 10:35 PMYou weren't around when we first formed the tribe, were you? ;-)
I'm planning to get one each in black and white, fringe the sleeves and the bottom, and bead the hell out of 'em. -

Re: Proposed Logo
Sat, June 12, 2004 - 4:58 PMI agree that the Man doesn't seem distinct enough from the rest of the design. I think making him red or orange (something firey) would probably do the trick. -

Re: Proposed Logo
Sat, June 12, 2004 - 5:40 PMcheck the "green sparkly" thread a couple items down from this one...I think we worked out a good compromise. (Now I just need to throw something at lori and see if we can't get this ball rolling....)
