Who would be interested in going in on a custom GSGB patch? I have this mental image of the Brownie trefoil with the Man in the center instead....

And I'm finding what looks to be some _excellent_ pricing, too:
www.patches4less.com/pricing.htm
The way I figure it, we could get a run of 100 patches with iron-on backing and metallic thread...if everyone currently signed up for this Tribe contributed to the cost, it'd work out to about $2.50 per person.
Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

Re: And while I'm obsessing over this idea.... ;-)
Tue, March 30, 2004 - 7:43 PMI've seen butane-fueled irons before.... Seriously, though, I'm thinking we get the order in early enough that I can die the death of a thousand papercuts and mail them out to y'all. (And yes, I'll be a good do-bee and combine shipments for anyone who goes in on the other patch order.) -

Wed, March 31, 2004 - 9:38 AMI'm in. Patch me!
I've been a baaaaaad girlscout for many many years. As a Junior I was part of Troop 12. We had a reputation for being the worst, nastiest troop in town because our troop leader mother very nearly let us have a girl scout party with BOYS! Not to mention that we never actually did any activities to earn patches, but at the end of the season our troop mother said to us, "Look through the catalog and choose the patches you *wish* you'd earned." And then at the ceremony she produced the chosen patches, abra-ca-dabra, even though we didn't earn them. I sewed mine on my sash with some shame. Now I can redeem myself by actually EARNING my Girl Scouts Gone Bad patch. I've been working on my activies all year, so I can feel good about this one. Heh heh.

Re: And while I'm obsessing over this idea.... ;-)
Wed, March 31, 2004 - 10:58 PMi was already researching patches and talking to lori (who started the thread/idea on the burning woman tribe) and my friend kari about going in together on a batch... they shouldn't be more than about a buck a piece.
rather than too many going in together, i think that multiple mini-troops should come up with patches so we have lots to share, trade and use for power (it'll be better than when i had a pocket of freezing man tickets!)
i've started buying patches too and making up my own meanings --i plan to hand 'em out on the playa to deserving scouts. -

Fri, April 2, 2004 - 11:24 AMYou can get a gas iron on Ebay - but they look a bit unwieldy to carry around: search.ebay.com/search/search.dll
I think the mini troup idea is good. Leslie let us know what you find out about costs of batches.
